The detailed objectives of phase 2 are:

O1
: Seedballs as technology are tested in different environments. Detailed information is gathered on factors influencing the yield effect, e.g. geographical region, soil type, fertiliser use, economic status of the farmer.

O2: The seedball technology is transferred to the sorghum crop. This means adaptation of physical and chemical variables as well as on-farm testing.

O3
: It is tested whether seedball production can be mechanised in order to reduce workload for farmers. The developed prototype must be constructed in a way that it can be copied locally at reasonable costs.

O4: Socio-economic studies are conducted in order to show the economic feasibility and the adoption potential of the technology. For the latter, all stakeholders need to be considered.
